Afghanistan, Bangladesh Pledge Stronger Ties in Disaster Risk Reduction

econews. Turabi made the remarks during a meeting with scholars from Bangladesh’s Wifaq-ul-Madaris on Tuesday at the directorate’s headquarters in Kabul, according to an official statement. The delegation included Mawlana Abu Saim and Mawlana Obaidullah Nadwi.

Describing Muslims worldwide as one brotherhood, Turabi stressed the need for greater engagement across multiple sectors. He briefed the visiting delegates on his directorate’s mandate, highlighting its core functions: managing emergencies, delivering aid to affected populations, and mitigating disaster-related risks.

He noted significant potential for coordination with Bangladeshi institutions, proposing the exchange of technical knowledge, operational experience, and best practices to strengthen both countries’ resilience to natural calamities.

In response, Mawlana Abu Saim and Mawlana Obaidullah Nadwi commended the directorate’s hospitality and acknowledged its constructive role in disaster management. 

They reaffirmed their commitment to fostering institutional ties and expressed readiness to collaborate on shared priorities, including capacity-building and mutual learning.
