ECO holds meeting in Tehran to discuss agricultural coop

Representatives from the member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) convened at the organization’s secretariat in Tehran on May 17, 2026, for the 36th meeting of the Regional Planning Council. The gathering brought together delegations from all member countries to review the progress of regional cooperation programs and outline new joint initiatives.
During the meeting, the participants discussed strategies to enhance economic collaboration, promote intra-regional trade, and advance joint projects in sectors such as transport, energy, and infrastructure. Reports on the implementation of previous ECO programs were also presented, and challenges and opportunities for expanding cooperation were examined.
The Regional Planning Council serves as one of the ECO’s key policymaking and coordinating bodies, aiming to align the development agendas of member states. The outcomes of this session are expected to contribute to new strategies and projects designed to strengthen economic integration across the region.
