Kabul Hosts Senior Uzbek Delegation as Bilateral Trade Ties Strengthen Beyond $150 Million

econews.   According to a readout from the Arg, Khodjayev emphasized that the primary objective of the visit is to broaden and deepen economic and political cooperation, while also initiating the operational phase of prior investment and trade pledges. He reiterated that Afghanistan occupies a strategic position in Tashkent's foreign policy and stressed that the mission was undertaken directly at the behest of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Khodjayev revealed that Afghan exports to Uzbekistan reached $150 million over the past year, with figures for the current year already hitting $111 million. He conveyed optimism that this trajectory would see further acceleration by year-end. In a further sign of deepening ties, he noted that Uzbekistan has issued 5,000 visas to Afghan nationals, underscoring the growing people-to-people and commercial links between the two nations.

In turn, Prime Minister Akhund characterized the delegation's visit as a milestone in bilateral relations. He asserted that the expanding economic partnership reflects Uzbekistan's robust confidence in Afghanistan's prospects. 

The Prime Minister assured his Uzbek counterpart that Kabul remains fully open to greater collaboration with its brotherly neighbor and is steadfast in honoring all mutual commitments.

Khodjayev, accompanied by a delegation of ministers, deputy ministers, business leaders, and investors, arrived in Kabul on Friday.
