  • Iran’s navy said two oil tankers caught fire after hitting mines in the eastern part of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s IRGC Navy, a separate naval force, said it stopped two tankers passing through the southern section of the strait and claimed that a supertanker caught fire after hitting a naval mine in the waterway. Both navies accused the tankers of using “unauthorised routes”. Iran’s navy also said it destroyed an unmanned enemy drone craft to the east of the strait.
  • Oman’s navy says it rescued 25 crew members aboard a vessel “targeted” 196km (122 miles) off the coast of the country’s Musandam governorate, which borders the Strait of Hormuz.
  • The head of US Central Command says the main internationally recognised shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz are clear of Iranian mines and that vessels are sailing freely through the waterway.
  • Qatari mediators return to Tehran in efforts to negotiate a deal on the US-Iran conflict, Iranian state media reports.
