Larijani was a highly trusted person in Russia, says Duma’s former deputy head
ECONEWS _ Sergey Nikolayevich Baburin, former deputy chairman of Russia’s State Duma, has said that martyred Iranian politician Ali Larijani was a distinguished stateman who was trusted by Russian authorities including President Vladimir Putin.

Econews, in a report citing IRNA, “The opinions of Mr. Larijani were paid attention in Moscow, and he was trusted not only by the Russian president but also by many of the Russian government officials,” Baburin told IRNA Sunday.

President Putin highly valued Larijani’s opinions and trusted many of his assessments, Baburin said in his interview conducted on the occasion of the 40th day since the martyrdom of Larijani in a US-Israeli airstrike during the recent war of aggression by the two regimes on Iran.

The former Duma official described Larijani’s passing a great loss, saying that he was assassinated, because he was a well-known stateman and capable of defending Iran’s interests in the international arena.

Ali Larijani was the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council when he was martyred on March 17. He had also served as parliament speaker and advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, among other positions.
