Christopher Van Hollen, an American attorney and Democratic politician serving the US Senate from Maryland, has once again criticized President Donald Trump’s war-mongering policies, saying the war against Iran was a “big blunder” from the very beginning.
econews. In an interview with a US news network on Sunday, Hollen referred to the disruption in the Strait of Hormuz due to the joint US-Israeli military aggression, saying the strategic waterway was open before the war, but now it seems Iran will have more control over the strait.
He rebuked the US president for his campaign slogans of keeping the US out of war and reducing prices, underscoring that Trump has done exactly the opposite of his pledges, as prices and interest rates keep soaring and Americans are stuck in a war with Iran.
Recently, at a Senate floor speech on a War Powers Resolution to halt “Trump’s illegal Iran war,” Hollen argued that the United States had gained no tangible outcome from the aggression.
The Trump administration has faced criticism from Democrats and even some fellow Republicans, as well as former civilian and military officials, right from the president’s executive order for a military operation against Iran.
A former commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), in a statement, said that Washington was facing a strategic impasse against Tehran, as there’s no sign of Iran backing down from its demands such as the US to withdraw from the Persian Gulf, pay compensation and maintain Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz.
