President Shavkat Mirziyoyev receives U.S. House of Representatives delegation

econews. At the beginning of the meeting, the U.S. lawmakers sincerely congratulated the President and the people of Uzbekistan on the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence.

The meeting focused on enhancing the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States and advancing interparliamentary cooperation.

The parties expressed satisfaction with the positive dynamics of bilateral relations, the high level of political dialogue, and the intensification of contacts and mutual visits. During a recent telephone conversation, the leaders of the two countries identified priority areas for further expansion of the strategic partnership.

They also focused on developing trade and economic cooperation. Since the beginning of this year, bilateral trade has grown by 20 percent. The three-year Economic Cooperation Program is being implemented consistently and provides for the launch and implementation of major projects in energy, critical minerals, transportation, agriculture, digital technologies, and industry.

The important role of the U.S. Congress in supporting large-scale reforms underway in Uzbekistan and in promoting constructive, mutually beneficial dialogue between the two countries was noted.

Particular attention was paid to expanding interregional cooperation. The readiness to develop direct ties and implement joint projects with the states of Missouri, North Carolina, Texas, and Hawaii, as represented by the members of the U.S. delegation, was expressed.

Views were also exchanged on current issues on the regional and international agendas.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to organize mutual visits through business missions.
