Tucker Carlson: Killing the Ayatollah Would Not Cause Iran to Collapse

econews.   American political commentator Tucker Carlson argued that the belief that Iran would collapse if the Ayatollah were killed is based on a misunderstanding of the country's political system.

According to Carlson, the U.S. president genuinely believed that eliminating the Ayatollah would lead to the collapse of the Iranian state. However, he claimed that such an outcome did not occur because, in his view, Iran is not simply a theocracy but a military dictatorship with a more resilient power structure.

John Kiriakou described Iran as "one of the most liberal countries in the entire region." Citing friends who visited the country before the recent hostilities, he said they shared videos showing ordinary life in Tehran, with restaurants and cafés operating normally, music playing, and people enjoying their daily routines.

Recalling his father's experience working in Iran, Carlson added that Tehran has long been home to many people with liberal views.

He concluded by referring to what he described as a photograph of a woman in Tehran who had previously opposed the Ayatollah but was later seen holding his photograph after his death, arguing that the event even prompted some former opponents to rally around his legacy.
